NATIONAL University tightened its grip on the top spot, while Far Eastern University claimed a twice-to-beat incentive with big wins on Wednesday in UAAP Season 81 volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.
Bryan Bagunas scored 17 as the Bulldogs routed University of the Philippines, 25-18, 25-21, 25-22, for a 12-1 record.
Bagunas had 15 kills in 22 attempts, while making 11 excellent receptions.
The Bulldogs demolished the Maroons in attacking with 41-28 differential. Nobody scored in double figures for UP, with Nicolo Consuelo leading the way with nine markers in their 12th loss in 13 games.
The Tamaraws made short work of La Salle, 25-21, 25-19, 25-20.
Redi John Paler led the charge with 12 points, while Jude Garcia and Peter Quiel added 10 hits each as FEU improved its record to 11-2.
FEU and NU clash for the No.1 spot on Sunday.
Cris Dumago scored 11 and Billie Anima added nine for La Salle, which dropped to 4-9 record before facing UP on Saturday in its last match of the season.
