FOR the second straight day, the UAAP called off its scheduled games as Typhoon Lando continues to batter Northern and Central Luzon.
After basketball, action in Monday’s beach volleyball was next to be called off, including the women’s knockout semifinal match between rivals Ateneo and La Salle at the SM Sands By The Bay.
The match between the Lady Eagles and Lady Spikers was set at 8 a.m. in the first game of a supposed tripleheader.
The triple bill also includes Game One of the men’s and women’s best-of-three finals, all of which will now be played on Wednesday morning.
The Monday matches were actually a make-up date after the league suspended all of its games including basketball, on Sunday due to Typhoon Lando.
The winner of the La Salle-Ateneo match will immediately play in the finals at 9 a.m. opposite Far Eastern University.
Ateneo will face University of Santo Tomas in the opener of the men’s beach volleyball finals at 8:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, the organizing Sports Vision also cancelled all Sunday games in the Shakey's V-League Season 12 and Spikers' Turf Season 1 Reinforced Conferences scheduled at The Arena in San Juan City.
The matches, pitting Army against UP and PLDT versus Kia Forte in the Shakey's V-League, and Navy against Instituto Estetico Manila in the Spikers' Turf, will instead be played on November 15.
Meanwhile, Air Force bounced back from a third set defeat to repulse Cignal HD, 25-22, 25-18, 20-25, 25-21, late Saturday to seize the solo lead in the Spikers' Turf with a 2-0 slate .
Cignal, which also dropped a straight-set defeat to PLDT, fell to 0-2 and in danger of missing the semis in the season-ending conference of the inaugural men's league presented by PLDT Home Ultera.
Earlier, Sta. Elena pounced on erratic PLDT Home Ultera side to fashion out a shock 25-22, 25-21, 14-25, 29-27 victory for a 1-1 card.
