WITH her collegiate career down to its final games, La Salle team captain Aby Marano is looking to savor the moment and, hopefully leave the Taft-based school with a bang.
The Lady Spikers are now just two wins away from claiming a fourth straight UAAP women’s volleyball title as they begin their title series against rival Ateneo Lady Eagles on Wednesday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
With Marano leading the way, La Salle only lost two sets all season - one each against Far Eastern University and National University - to complete a 14-game sweep of the eliminations and a fourth straight trip to the Finals.
In all, the Lady Spikers are on a 29-game winning streak dating back to last year, and definitely this is not the time to let their guard down.
Marano said leaving an institution that has been home for her the last five years will be very hard, but winning another championship would be a beautiful memory she would look back on for the rest of her life.
"Two more games wala na akong lalaruin, 'di ba? Parang sobrang gusto kong ibigay lahat ng skills na natutunan ko kay coach Ramil (de Jesus)," said Marano, aware the thrice-to-beat Lady Spikers needed to win just two more games to wrap up the title series.
"Lahat ng nilaro ko for five years, gusto kong ilabas this season kasi darating 'yung panahon na mami-miss ko na lang ito (paglalaro para sa La Salle). Alaala na lang 'yung nasa isip ko kaya gusto ko trabahuhin ngayon."
"Gusto ko talaga ibigay all out ko this season kasi last playing year ko na," she vowed.
