TICKETS for the much-awaited rematch between De La Salle and Ateneo in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament are selling like hotcakes, with scalpers beginning to sell them at four times its value two days before prior to the showdown at the Mall of Asia Arena.
A check of online selling sites showed patron tickets pegged at P350 are now being sold at P1,500, with the ticket prices in the black market expected to skyrocket as Sunday's game draws near.
But tickets at SM outlets are still available especially upper box seats which cost P175 each as tickets were only made available last Wednesday.
Ticket prices are as follows: Patron P350, lower box P300, upper box P175, and general admission P75.
The game, marking the first meeting between the two popular teams since last year’s Finals, is expected to draw both students and alumni of both La Salle and Ateneo, as well as volleyball fans in general.
Ateneo team manager Tony Boy Liao said demand for game tickets is still brisk as he has granted 60 ticket requests so far for the much-anticipated game.
Edwin Reyes, one of La Salle’s representatives to the UAAP board, said ticket demands for the Ateneo-De La Salle volleyball game have been the same as last year.
He also received reports that patron and lower box tickets are already sold out.
Last season, the UAAP volleyball games at the Mall of Asia Arena drew record crowds, including 19,638 during Game Two of the title series which the Lady Spikers won by a sweep.
Led by skipper Aby Marano, the Lady Spikers are currently undefeated in five game this season and have not dropped a set in all of their games.
Despite the graduation of several key players, the Lady Eagles, meanwhile, remain competitive and are at the top half of the standing with a 5-1 win-loss slate.
Aside from the La Salle-Ateneo match, ticket buyers will also be able to get a chance to watch the first game pitting National University against Adamson.
