THAILAND overcame a third-set slip and dealt the Philippines its second straight loss in the Asean Grand Prix, 13-25, 21-25, 25-23, 20-25, on Saturday at Terminal 21 Mall in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
With Kalei Mau and and Aby Marano showing the way, the Filipinas managed to avoid getting swept but the Thais were quick to recover.
Thailand is a win away from a sweep of the first leg.
Thai skipper Onuma Sittirak and Thatdao Nuekjang did the damage, unleashing 17 points apiece. Pimpichaya Kokram delivered 11 points, while Malika Kanthong added 10 markers.
Chatchu-on Moksri scored nine and Pleumjit Thinkaow added eight as Thailand tries to sweep the Asean Grand Prix when it plays Indonesia on Sunday.
Mau had 12 points, all coming from attacks.
Ces Molina added 11 points, while Maraño had three kill blocks for nine points.
Eya Laure scored eight, while Majoy Baron and Jovelyn Gonzaga added seven points apiece.
