CANDON CITY — Team Power weathered a third-set hiccup and shut the door on Team Hustle, 25-18, 25-18, 21-25, 25-23, in the 2026 Spikers’ Turf All-Star Game on Friday at the Candon City Arena.
In the men’s All-Star Game’s historic debut, the Criss Cross-laden side’s victory also came with a P100,000 prize from the Candon City local government.
Noel Kampton was feted with not only the first All-Star Game MVP but also his first individual award.
“Hindi talaga sila mahirap i-handle kasi lahat sila, professionals na,” said Team Power head coach Sydney Calderon.
“Sabi ko nga, ang sarap pala manalo na champion.”
They got the power
Tai Bundit-led Team Hustle even struck first, with Mark Calado spearheading a 5-1 opening run, but five-time MVP Jude Garcia turned the deficit into a 7-6 lead with an ace, backed by seven of his fellow King Crunchers All-Star teammates.
Then came another swing moment as Kampton cashed in on two Premier Balls, worth two points each, to fuel a four-point surge that broke the set open and paved the way for a comfortable Set 1 win.
With reserves taking over in Set 2, Team Power doubled down on ndt defense. Ysay Marasigan anchored the net, even converting a Premier Ball into a two-point block as Team Power tightened its grip on the match.
Calado came out swinging in the third set and banked on a Premier Ball miscue by Kampton, building on a 10-9 lead and eventually extending the All-Star duel.
Despite their best efforts to erase a 9-16 deficit, Team Passion’s last-ditch bid for a fifth-set decider fell flat as Kampton sealed his MVP-winning performance with a crosscourt hit that sealed the game in four sets.
