A new era is set to begin for Alas Pilipinas following the appointment of Anusorn ‘Tai’ Bundit as new head coach for the women's side.
“Coach Tai was appointed last night as the head coach of the women’s Alas team by the PNVF Executive Board,” Philippine National Volleyball Federation president Tony Boy Liao told SPIN.ph on Friday.
After parting ways with Jorge Souza de Brito last year, the national team turns to a Thai mentor well-acquainted with success on Philippine soil.
Bundit is tasked to steer Alas toward sustained growth on the international stage, as he brings proven championship pedigree, having won six titles in the country.

As shot-caller, he has won three PVL titles with Creamline, two UAAP crowns with Ateneo, and most recently a maiden Spikers’ Turf championship with Criss Cross.
Tai for a change
His appointment had long appeared imminent.
Following the conclusion of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in December, Bundit’s name already sat atop the preliminary shortlist of Liao, the new president of the PNVF, as a leading candidate to take over the Philippine program.
Bundit is expected to make his first imprint on Alas as head coach in the upcoming invitational tryouts, where he will play a key role in evaluating and selecting potential additions to the existing player pool.
This will not be Bundit’s first stint with the national team, though, having previously served as an assistant coach before stepping down at the onset of the pandemic to be with his family in Thailand.
