UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas completed the five-game elimination round sweep after downing hapless De La Salle-Dasmariñas, 25-15, 25-16, 25-20, in the Philippine Superliga Collegiate Grand Slam on Thursday at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.
Sophomore Milena Alessandrini and rookies Eya Laure and Ysa Jimenez led the Tigresses as they made a short work of the Lady Patriots in a straight-sets win in just 69 minutes to finish the eliminations at first place with an immaculate 5-0 win-loss record.
UST will battle University of the Philippines in a winner-take-all Finals in December 20 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Alessandrini showed the way with nine kills, a block and a service ace for 11 points. Laure chipped in 10 hits including nine digs, while Jimenez dropped nine markers.
The Tigresses demolished the Lady Patriots in attacking with a 42-14 differential, 10-5 edge in service aces and took advantage of their foes’ 31 errors.
Nobody scored in double figures for De La Salle-Dasma with Basilyn Delfin leading the way with eight points.
The Lady Patriots have yet to win in four matches and will face CSA-Biñan Eagles (1-3) next week.
