STEPHANIE Niemer led Petron to a 23-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-21 win over Cignal on Thursday that sealed a sixth straight Philippine Superliga Grand Prix Finals appearance at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.
Niemer waxed hot with 35 points off 26 kills, five service aces and four blocks to bring the Blaze Spikers back to life after a slow start and complete a two-game sweep of Cignal in their semifinal series.
Niemer also displayed tremendous floor defense with 20 digs and 10 excellent receptions as Petron won its 17th straight game this conference to reach their 13th finals appearance overall.
Katherine Bell unloaded 18 points while the locals also shone with Mika Reyes adding seven markers, setter Rhea Dimaculangan pacing the team with 26 excellent sets and libero Denden Lazaro having 14 digs and eight receptions.
Petron now advances to a best-of-three championship series starting on Tuesday against the winner of the other semifinal series betwen F2 Logistics and PLDT.
Erica Wilson and Ana Artemeva had 24 and 18 points, respectively. Rachel Anne Daquis had 12 markers in a losing cause.
