AMI Yamashiro unleashed 17 points to lead University of Tsukuba in disposing Team Shine, 25-10, 25-16, 25-16, on Thursday, at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Moeka Kinoe had 12 points for Tsukuba while Kurumi Takama and Syuri Kurata added eight markers, apiece, for the Japanese team in the match that they finished in straight sets and lasted for only an hour and 12 minutes.
Japanese team captain Miho Yokota, who had two markers, admitted that it wasn't an easy win as they struggled in adjusting their defense system.
"We had a tough game but we all cooperated together, and achieved our goal," she said.
University of Tsukuba had an excellent pace in the first frame, unleashing 15 quick points to eventually seal the set, 25-10.
Head coach Yasumu Nakanishi, however, commended the team's effort in doing a good service pacing, which can help them further as they face the Philippine National Team on Friday.

"Our players did a better service today. And this could prepare us for tomorrow's game facing the national team," he said.
Team Shine Fil-Am MJ Phillips had nine points for the team while Christine Soyud and Fritz Gallenero added four each in a losing effort.
