THERE’S no room for much errors now as the Super Liga enters the knockout semifinals, with No. 1 Philips Gold taking on Foton and defending champion Petron facing Cignal.

The Lady Slammers ended the double-round eliminations with an 8-2 win-loss record behind American imports Bojana Todorovic and Alexis Olgard and face the fourth-seeded Tornadoes starting on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan on Thursday.

Philips Gold and Foton split their elimination-round matches but Slammers coach Francis Vicente believes they have learned a lot from those two encounters.

"Foton is a very solid team. It knows what it takes to win big games. We just have to stick to our game plan and do those little things that made us successful in the past like reception and blocking. It's going to be a great matchup."

Foton will lean on imports Lindsay Stalzer and Katie Messing with the locals led by Jaja Santiago.

The Blaze Spikers and HD Spikers also split their eliminations matches, and Petron coach George Pascua noted they can’t lose focus in a knockout match against CIgnal.

"Cignal plays great defense. We will keep our end-game composure while guarding ourselves against overconfidence. The semifinals is a knockout game. We have to bring our best game if we want to retain the crown."

PSL president Ramon “Tats” Suzara is pleased to see a balanced semifinal cast.

"We have very interesting semis matchups. All these teams are capable of beating one another because the league is so balanced and unpredictable. They all deserve to be the champion. I'm wishing them the best of luck," said Suzara.
