PETRON bounced back from a huge loss, scoring a 25-22, 25-19, 25-10 victory to end F2 Logistics’ win streak at three on Thursday in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix at The Arena in San Juan.
The Tri-Activ Spikers, who saw their four-match winning run end with a five-set loss to Foton, recovered and improved to 5-1. The Cargo Movers now hold a 3-3 card.
American import Stephanie Niemer scored 21 points, with 12 kills and nine of the team’s 14 service aces.
Serena Warner added 11, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas scored eight and Ces Molina chipped in six points as April Hingpit dished out all of the team’s 13 excellent sets.
“Ang ganda ng bounce back namin and ‘yun nga nasunod ang mga game plan namin na maging well-distributed ang bola,” said Petron coach Shaq delos Santos.
“Syempre hindi ko expected na straight sets kasi galing sa panalo din and knowing La Salle team para sa amin ang gandang opportunity na makuha namin ang game na ito,” he added.
No one scored in double digits for the Cargo Movers, with American reinforcements Sydney Kemper and Hayley Spelman limited to just eight and six points, respectively. F2 gave away 26 points to Petron through errors.
