DEFENDING champion Petron routed Sta. Lucia, 25-8, 25-8, 25-18, to extend its unbeaten run to four in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix on Thursday at the Arena in San Juan City.

Stephanie Niemer had 24 points on 17 kills, five service aces and two blocks, while Katherine Bell delivered 17 points off 14 spikes for the Blaze Spikers.

Rhea Dimaculangan had 27 excellent sets on top of three markers, while libero Denden Lazaro had 11 digs and six excellent receptions as Petron completed the win in 61 minutes.

Coach Shaq Delos Santos said he was pleased to see the Blaze Spikers do well early, but noted that there is much work to be done in their bid to score back-to-back Grand Prix titles.

“Nakikita namin yung improvement ng team pero siyempre dapat hindi kami makuntento kung anong meron kami ngayon kasi siyempre kailangan namin mamaintain o mas kailangan mapaangat pa namin,” said Delos Santos, whose wards will take on United Volleyball Club (1-2) on Tuesday next week.
