BACOOR CITY — Aiko Urdas and Jerrili Malabanan powered Smart past Sta. Lucia, 25-23, 25-19, 25-19, at the start of Pool A play in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the Bacoor Strike Gym.

Urdas and Malabanan unloaded 13 points each as the Giga Hitters ended a three-match skid, while keeping the Lady Realtors winless.

Coach Roger Gorayeb wasn’t satisfied even as Smart improved its win-loss record to 3-5.

“Lahat naman ng panalo importante sa amin yan. Hindi naman kami leading kaya lang hindi mo pa rin makita yung laro na dapat makita,” Gorayeb rued.

Smart setter Jasmine Nabor made it to the match in Cavite despite a dissertation defense at National University, but won’t be around for the match on Thursday against Foton at 4:15 p.m. also in Bacoor.

Nabor had 31 excellent sets on top of 16 digs and four points.

Angel Cayuna, who skipped the Tuesday match also to make her defense at FEU, will be available on Thursday.

“Nagsakripisyo na yung bata walang setter si Angel naman dito tapos si Jasmine ang mawawala,” Gorayeb said.

Jeanette Villareal scored 11 and Micmic Laborte added nine points for the Lady Realtors, winless in nine outings.

Sta. Lucia will end its group stage against Foton on Tuesday next week at Batangas City Coliseum.
