SMART-Army swept Generika-Ayala, 25-19, 25-22, 25-21, to book a semis showdown with Petron in the Philippine Super Liga Invitational Conference on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.
Veterans Nene Bautista and Joanne Bunag led the way for the Giga Hitters with eight points apiece, while skipper Ging Balse had seven markers and 15 digs.
After a winless campaign in the Grand Prix, Smart-Army advanced to the knockout semifinals against Pool A leader Petron on Saturday at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.
“Ganansya na kami, boundary, sobra na. May isang sakong bigas pa kami na pwedeng i-take home,” said Smart-Army coach Kungfu Reyes.
