SISI Rondina stole the show in Mika Reyes' first game against her former club team and college teammates as Petron rallied from two sets down to beat reigning champion F2 Logistics, 23-25, 23-25, 25-14, 25-15, 15-9, on Thursday in the PSL All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Rondina fired 21 points as the high-energy spiker helped the Blaze Spikers overcome a disappointing start to put together a memorable debut of a lineup that underwent several changes in the offseason.
Reyes, playing against her former La Salle and F2 Logistics teammates for the first time, had six points while Ces Molina backed up Rondina with 13 points.
"Happy kami dahil binigay ni Lord ang panalo," said Petron coach Shaq Delos Santos. "Although slow start ang nilaro namin, alam namin ang kakayanan ng mga bata. Napakagandang expereince ang nangyari sa game na ito."
F2 Logistics, whose La Salle core was fresh from its conquest of the UAAP Season 79 title, looked on the verge of a sweep of powerhouse Petron after pulling off two come-from-behind set victories.
But Rondina provided the much-needed spark for the Blaze Spikers from the third set that saw her team take a commanding 21-11 lead.
Rondina continued to get her teammates going in the fourth set after four unanswered points put Petron ahead, 19-12. The momentum continued to shift as the Blaze Spikers began the fifth with an 8-2 lead and never looked back.
Aby Marano and Majoy Baron each contributed 15 points for the Cargo Movers, while Des Cheng added 13 points.
