THERE was no hint of despair in Petron coach Shaq delos Santos' face when he talked to a handful of reporters after his team's loss to F2 Logistics in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix finals.
F2 completed a big comeback in the best-of-three series with a 25-20, 25-19, 20-25, 25-18 victory on Saturday, but delos Santos said Petron had nothing to be ashamed of.
Delos Santos said F2 simply outplayed them during the deciding match at the Mall of Asia Arena.
"Siguro para sa F2 talaga ang laro, sobrang ganda rin ng nilaro nila," he said.
"And kami naman nag-struggle kami sa first ball namin. Kumbaga kung nagkakaroon kami ng magandang first ball definitely nagkakaroon kami ng magandang set play. Yun ang naging conflict o problem namin nitong Game 3."
The Petron tactician went on to laud F2's superb service as the latter racked up 10 aces in the match that lasted almost two hours.
"I think yunng service nila. Sobrang ganda ng service nila. Naging consistent sila especially yung mga target din nila na ginawa so yun ang naging problem din namin eh," he said.
With the series now behind them, Petron is taking a well-deserved rest before mulling over their future plans for 2018.
"Pagmi-meetingan muna namin ang lahat ng dapat naming gawin," he said. "Sa ngayon siguro time to rest kasi medyo nakakapagod din ang mga nangyari."
