COACH Shaq de los Santos says the Petron Blaze Spikers understand there is much work ahead in the Super Liga Grand Prix after the big victory over erstwhile unbeaten Foton.
The Blaze Spikers won in in four sets to get ahead of the two-time defending champion Tornadoes in teh standings, but the team standings in the eliminations mean nothing, De los Santos points out.
“Para sa amin grounded pa rin. Hindi pa kami 'yung tipong best team pero 'yun ang gusto naming mangyari, honestly speaking,” he said.
The veteran coach stressed that although they’re already done with the league heavyweights, they are not taking Iriga City (1-3) and Cocolife (2-3) lightly.
“So para sa amin kailangan mas ma-test ulit namin ang team namin, kailangan maging consistent kami kahit anong klase ang kalaban namin, kailangan may ma-gain kaming magandang experience sa laro namin,” he added.
“Para sa amin kasi hindi madali ang next games kasi parang ano kasi ‘yan, ang labanan may imports tayo ngayon, mataas ang level ng nilalaro nila,” he said.
Now led by former Foton import Lindsay Stalzer, Petron holds a 5-1 win-loss record, while Foton is at 4-1.
Petron will have a nine-day break before it faces Iriga City on November 25 at Batangas City Sports Complex.
