GUNNING for their second crown of the three-conference season, coach Shaq de los Santos says there is no pressure on the Petron Blaze Spikers and he just wants them to give their best as they face rivals F2 Logistics Cargo Movers for the Philippine Superliga Invitational Conference title.
The best-of-three finals start on Thursday at 7 p.m. at The Arena in San Juan.
“Actually, mahirap siya hindi siya ganoon kadaling gawin pero for us hard work talaga and kailangan and siyempre maging positive sa lahat ng gusto naming gawin,” the national team coach said.
“Hopefully, in God’s will, why not kung ibibigay pero siyempre sa amin gagawin lang namin yung part namin and best namin."
“Ayokong isipin na gawin siya or totally mangyari agad dahil kung talagang ibibigay sa amin ni Lord hihintayin namin ‘yun. Ang gagawin lang namin ibigay ‘yung 100 percent best namin kasi ‘yung result naman lalabas ‘yan,” he added.
Facing F2 Logistics for the fourth straight time, Delos Santos, who has a 2-1 edge in his finals head-to-head with Cargo Movers head coach Ramil de Jesus, anticipates another exciting and dramatic Finals series.
“Definitely, magiging maganda puso na lang ulit magiging usapan,” said De los Santos, who steered Petron to a Grand Prix title last May by beating F2 Logistics in Game Three. “Sa skills, lahat meron na ‘yan, nasa diskarte ng coaches at kung gaano katibay ‘yung puso ng players.”
The Blaze Spikers, however, are going to get limited minutes from skipper Ces Molina, who begged off from national team duties due to a recurring shin injury.
Despite the three to four weeks rest required by her doctor, Molina committed to finish the series with Petron’s formidable core bannered by open spikers Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons, veteran opposite hitter Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, middle blockers Mika Reyes and Remy Palma and setter Rhea Dimaculangan.
“I think magiging maganda itong laban na ‘to. Good luck sa amin. Hindi natin masasabi kung ano ‘yung mangyayari,” De los Santos said.
