COACH Shaq de los Santos said Petron played well below their potential, while lauding F2’s new acquisition Kalei Mau for her fine performance on Thursday in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference.
Bernadeth Pons scored 18 points and had 27 digs, while Ces Molina added 16 hits, but De los Santos wanted more from the rest of the Blaze Spikers, who bowed to the Cargo Movers in four sets.
Mika Reyes scored seven, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Remy Palma had four each, while Toni Basas had three points.
Mau, acquired after the disbandment of United VC, continued her fine play for F2, which remained unbeaten in four matches.
De los Santos also said the loss can’t be attributed to the absence of backup Sisi Rondina, who is in Japan for the University of Sto. Tomas team celebration.
“Pang seventh man ko nga yun. Hindi rin namin nagaws yung rotation namin so malaking factor,” he said on the UAAP MVP, who averages 11 points off the bench for Petron.
Denden Lazaro is also out due to a right foot injury.
Petron now focuses on bouncing back. The Blaze Spikers faces another unbeaten team in Cignal (2-0) on Saturday at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.
