FOTON defeated Cocolife, 20-25, 25-17, 28-26, 25-18, on Saturday for its second straight win in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix at The Arena in San Juan.
Serbian import Sara Klisura and Jaja Santiago showed the way as the Tornadoes joined Petron on top of the standings.
Klisura, who scored 26 in their previous match, had 22 points from 17 kills and five blocks, on top of seven digs and eight excellent receptions.
Reigning MVP Santiago had 21 points.
The Tornadoes struggled at the start, but Foton coach Moro Branislav noted they knew they could turn things around, having beaten the Asset Managers in the offseason.
“Ten days before the start of the competition, Foton only played one tune-up match against a PSL team which is Cocolife,” Branislav said.
“This is a problem for every team that doesn’t play big number of tune-up match. It can change the situation because you can be familiar with your opponent before the Grand Prix,” he added.
Dragana Perunicic of Montenegro also had 14 points for Foton.
American imports Shar Latai Manu-Olevao and Taylor Milton combined for 31 points for Cocolife, which absorbed its second loss in as many matches.
