FOTON bagged the seventh spot in the Philippine Super Liga Invitational Conference after it swept University of the Philippines-UAI, 25-14, 25-14, 25-14, on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.
Jaja Santiago finished with 13 points, while her elder sister, Dindin Saniago-Manabat, chipped in 12 markers.
After three straight losses, the Tornadoes capped off the conference with three consecutive wins, including a win by default over University of the East-Cherrylume.
“Syempre masaya kami sa resulta ng team,” said interim Foton coach Edjet Mabbayad, who took over from Rommel Abella.
“Kahit pa naging ganoon ang overall result ng laro itong Invitational, okay na sa amin kasi nakita namin ang change sa kanila, ‘yung gusto naming mangyari ginawa nila,” he added.
It was Jaja’s last game with the Tornadoes before flying to Japan to see action in the Japan V Premier League.
But Mabbayad cannot confirm if the management already has a back up plan for Jaja’s absence in the All-Filipino Conference.
Isa Molde made 14 points for UP-UAI.
