RC Cola Army recovered from a mid-match dip in form defeat Thai guest team Est Cola, 25-23, 25-23, 14-25, 25-23, on Saturday, topping the Philippine Super Liga Invitational Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Most Valuable Player Jovelyn Gonzaga scored 19 points, including the title clinching attack, while Honey Royse Tubino added 17 and Rachel Anne Daquis contributed 10 as Army regained the throne after missing three conferences.
It was the Lady Troopers’ fourth title and first with RC Cola. The Troopers won twice as TMS-Army in 2013 and ruled the All-Filipino Conference in 2014 as Generika Army.
Reyes said their experience spelled the difference in their match against the Est Cola team featuring players from the Thailand youth team.
Sasipaporn Janthawisut scored 18 points with 16 spikes, while Sutadta Chuewulim had 16 markers and Wipawee Yotpinit added 12 for the young Thai squad.
