PLDT Home TVolution completed a perfect run to the title, making short work of Cignal, 25-21, 25-21, 25-21, on Saturday in the men’s final of the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference at Cuneta Astrodome.
The Power Attackers won all of their nine matches to remain as the only PSL men’s champions. They won the PSL Grand Prix last year, the first time the league held a men’s tournament.
National team members Ranran Abdilla and Jeffrey Malabanan scored 18 and 10 points, respectively, as the Power Attackers took only one hour and 33 minutes to complete the win.
“First set pa lang alam ko na," PLDT coach Jasper Jimenez. "'Yung puso ng team ko pang-championship talaga. Yung puso namin pang-champion at pang-gold."
"Most ng players ko nasa RP team kaya 'yung expectation mataas, international ang level nila," said Jimenez.
"Ang key namin is relaxed kami sa game, focus at siyempre nagpapasalamat kami sa taas, at isa pa may disiplina sila."
Abdilla was still the main scoring option despite a shoulder strain, but he credited his teammates especially setters Ian Fernandez and Jessie Lopez, with the latter registering 31 of the team's 36 excellent sets.
"Humuhugot ako sa teammates ko. Di ko magagawa kung wala sila especially setter namin magaling talaga. Kung wala siya di namin magagawa game plays namin," said Abdilla.
Jay de la Cruz made 10 points for Cignal.
