F2 Logistics head coach Ramil De Jesus said that Majoy Baron’s national team experience turned her into an MVP caliber player in the Philippine Superliga.
“Well, maganda yung exposure na nakuha niya doon sa Thailand and then sunod dito sa Philippines,” said De Jesus after surviving Petron in a five-set thriller to repeat as Invitationals champion on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Besides Baron’s exposure in the ASEAN Grand Prix, where she won a pair of Best Blocker awards in both legs, the Cargo Movers coach said that his recruit from Tarlac has come a long way through her hard work and passion, allowing her to excel in the UAAP and translating that to the club league and international level.
“Nakikita ko sa training mas nagsisipag siya and gusto niya yung ginagawa niya,” De Jesus said.

The former La Salle star, who also won her sixth overall PSL Best Middle Blocker award, couldn’t believe she was named as Invitationals MVP, which was added to her growing collection of accolades.
“Hindi ako makapaniwala. Sobrang blessing. Ang daming blessings binigay ni Lord sa akin this year,” Baron said. “Mas nakaka-inspire pa na mag-improve and mag-improve since parang nasusuklian yung efforts.”
But more than her first PSL MVP, Baron is proud of the Cargo Movers that they were able to edge the hard-fighting Blaze Spikers in a winner-take-all Finals and won their second crown in the three-conference season of the PSL.
“Aam naman natin yung Petron hindi sila madaling kalaban. Parang lumabas din talaga yung experience and yung heart of a champion,” said the former UAAP MVP. “Mas nakaka-inspire pa gumalaw nang tama at mas nakaka-inspire iimprove pa yung level ng volleyball dito sa Philippines.”
After excelling in the past two ASEAN Grand Prix and PSL Invitational, Baron is now shifting her focus to train with the nationals as they fly to Japan for their last training camp for the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
Her ultimate goal? End the 14-year medal drought of the Philippines.
“Siyempre dream big di ba, why not? Syempre paghihirapan mo yun. May process and we should trust the process,” said Baron. “Excited din ako sa camp, excited din akong maayos namin yung national team. Excited din akong mag-SEA Games kasi first SEA Games ko ever.”
