RACHEL Anne Daquis vows to be a good role model to the league and the younger players as she was appointed as the newest Philippine Superliga ambassador of the 2018 Philippine Superliga.
Daquis gladly accepted the responsibilities and duties of the league ambassador from her best friend and erstwhile ambassador Aby Maraño during the opening ceremonies of the 2018 All-Filipino Conference and inaugural Collegiate Grand Slam on Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
“Siyempre, it's a great opportunity na makapag-inspire ng mga tao lalo na ngayong ikaw na 'yung face ng Philippine Superliga,” she said. “Gusto kong maging role model ng mga bata sa mga co-athletes ko.”
As the face of the league, Cignal HD Spiker wants to be a good example to the players.
“Dapat ikaw 'yung tinitignan nila as their ate, as their senior, as their ambassador,” Daquis said. “Siyempre, as part of the responsibilities, kailangan mas maging mabuting example ako dahil dala ko 'yung liga and 'yung mga kasama kong player.”
The former Far Eastern University star has her hands full, balancing her duties as a player for Cignal in their All-Filipino campaign, teaching Pilates exercise and accommodating her fitness gym in her hometown in Taytay, Rizal.
“At first, medyo tinignan ko pa kung okay lang kasi nga medyo busy ako and lagi akong paalis-alis papunta sa family ko,” she said.
With an added responsibility being the player representative in every PSL special events, Daquis promises to do her duty as ambassador.
“I know naman 'yung Superliga is very understanding sa mga ganoon ko. Kahit naman alam kong busy ako, I'll still do my role,” she vowed.
