RACHEL Anne Daquis is glad that Cignal has finally discovered a new weapon after setting a season-high 27 blocks in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference.

The HD Spikers hosted a block party with 27 kill blocks to beat PLDT Home Fibr, 23-25, 25-20, 25-16, 23-25, 15-9, last Tuesday at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.

Daquis, who led the block party with seven blocks, and the whole Cignal team were surprised when they learned that they dominated the blocking department with 27-4 advantage over PLDT.

Besides Daquis, Janine Navarro and Jovelyn Gonzaga had five blocks apiece, while middle blockers Ranya Musa and Roselyn Doria as well as 6-foot-2 setter Alohi Robins-Hardy also conspired in the block party.

For the former Far Eastern University superstar, it goes to show the new-look of HD Spikers, who are all willing to contribute for the team when they enter the court.

The Cignal skipper believes that their accolade in blocking will bring out the best in them for the remainder of the conference, where they have one last preliminary game against F2 Logistics next week at the Malolos Sports Complex before heading into the knockout quarterfinals.

“Mas nakakamotivate. At least may nadiscover kami na strength namin,” said Daquis, whose team currently ranks at fifth place with a 7-6 win-loss record.
