RC Cola-Army moved a step closer to the title after an easy win over F2 Logistics, 25-21, 25-20, 25-16, in the Philippine Super Liga Invitational Conference on Friday at The Arena in San Juan.
Honey Royse Tubino and Rachel Anne Daquis led the attack for the Lady Troopers as they had 18 and 11 points, respectively.
The veteran squad of RC Cola Army will face Thai guest team Est Cola on Saturday to determine the winner of the conference.
“Objective namin talunin ang Est Cola,” said Lady Troopers coach Kungfu Reyes.
“’Di bale nang mamatay kesa mapahiya sa sariling bayan,” added Reyes, who’s also a staff sergeant at the Philippine Army.
The 35-year old coach also hopes that his wards capitalize on their experience to dominate Est Cola, which is composed of Thai youth team selection.
The Lady Troopers’ core of Tina Salak, Michelle Carolino, Nene Bautista, Jovelyn Gonzaga and Daquis appear to have the edge here as they have experienced international tournaments such as the Southeast Asian Games.
“Susubukan lang namin sabayan ang Thailand bukas,” he said. “Mabibilis kasi sila, kaya kung kaya namin i-control ang tempo ng laro nila gagawin namin.”
“Base sa laro naman di nagkakalayo. Ang edge lang nila, bata sila na pwede ring maging liability nila,” he added. “Sana lang magamit namin ang pagiging matanda ng team namin.”
Paneng Mercado had 11 points for F2 Logistics, which remained winless in two matches in the final round.
