CHERRY Rondina was her usual explosive self, while Jaja Santiago did well in her new role as Foton beat Generika, 25-11, 22-25, 26-24, 25-21, on Thursday in the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Rondina scored 21 points, 19 on attacks, while National U star middle blocker Jaja Santiago had 16 points from 12 hits as open spiker as the Tornadoes evened its win-loss record, 1-1, after a loss to Petron
Generika now also has a 1-1 card, failing to score a follow-up to its win over Navy in the opener.
Foton coach Vilet Ponce de Leon was pleased with Rondina’s numbers, but noted the UST player can be overeager and has the tendency to put up wild hits.
“Actually kino-control nga namin siya eh kasi naninigas siya, ganoon kasi ’yang batang ’yan eh kapag nae-excite, sa palo nanggigigil so kailangan i-tone down namin,” said Ponce de Leon.
“Every now and then kailangan ma-remind siya kasi excited siya, bata ’yan eh,” she added.
Shaya Adorador scored 14 points, Wensh Tiu added 13, Chloe Cortez chipped in 12 and Ria Meneses had 11 for Generika.
