PETRON XCS’ Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons defeated Generika-Ayala’s Fiola Ceballos and Patty Orendain, 19-21, 21-14, 15-8, at the start of the Philippine Super Liga Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup at Sands by the Bay on Wednesday.
“Nahirapan kami talaga gumalaw sa buhangin talaga kasi hindi kami nakapag-ensayo dito sa venue,” said Rondina.
“Nalulunod ako sa buhangin, kapag tatalon ako nahihila ako pababa. Tapos hindi nga kami nakapag-ensayo dito pero buti na lang nakapag-adjust kami sa second set,” added Pons.
Mylene Paat and Rap-Rap Aguilar of Cignal A defeated Bang Pineda and Sheeka Espinosa of Generika-Ayala B, 21-19, 5-21, 16-14, in Pool B.
In the men’s division Pool A, Sands swept the opening games, defeating UST A, 21-15, 21-17, and Foton, 21-19, 21-15.
Foton got its first win at the expense of Cocolife, 21-5, 21-7.
In Pool B, Cignal overcame TVM, 16-21, 21-14, 15-9, Smart defeated, Navy, 21-19, 14-21, 15-10, and TVM defeated Navy, 21-17, 21-18.
