IMUS CITY — Petron started its title-retention bid with a 25-21, 25-16, 25-10 rout of Marinerang Pilipina on Tuesday in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference at the Imus Sports Center.
Aiza Maizo-Pontillas had 15 points on 12 kills and three blocks while making five excellent receptions as the Blaze Spikers kept the Lady Skippers winless in three matches.
Mika Reyes scored 10, Bernadeth Pons added nine, while UAAP MVP Sisi Rondina delivered eight points off the bench.
Rhea Dimaculangan dished out 20 excellent sets and fired four aces.
“Happy ako kasi panalo first game pero siyempre mas kailangan pa rin namin magstep up kasi next week puro contenders kalaban namin,” said Petron coach Shaq de los Santos.
“Noong third set, inilaro lang namin kung ano yung inilaro namin kasi alam naman namin kung ano yung quality ng pwede nilang ilaro,”Delos Santos added.
Nobody scored in double figures for Marinerang Pilipina, with Dimdim Pacres and Judith Abil leading the charge with nine points each.
