HONEY Royse Tubino and Rachel Anne Daquis led the charge for RC Cola Army in dominating Amy’s Kitchen, 25-19, 25-17, 25-18, in the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Tuesday.
Tubino and Daquis powered the Lady Troopers attack with 15 and 13 points, respectively. But RC Cola Army coach Kungfu Reyes was far from satisfied with his team's sub-par performance, despite coming away with an easy win.
“Kung ganoon ang lalaruin namin, ‘yung level kami sa kills at experience, maaring matalo kami kasi medyo naninigas pa. Siguro nilalamig pero sabi nga buti at medyo bata pa ang naging kalaban namin (kaya nanalo kami),” said Reyes.
The former three-time champion Lady Troopers may have banked on experience to outplay the young Amy's squad, but Reyes admitted that his veteran-laden squad has plenty of work to do to get back in top form.
“Pagaganahin na lang namin ang pagiging veteran namin sa court,” he said. “Ngayon almost nasa 70 percent na kami and ngayon medyo i-a-adjust namin ang training namin and hopefully ok na ang mga joints namin para hindi na sila manigas.”
“Ang taas ng competition sa All Filipino kasi fresh from collegiate tournament ‘yung mga bata and ‘yun ang paghahandaan namin. Kung sino muna nasa harap namin, ‘yun muna paghahandaan namin,” he added.
The Lady Troopers joined Generika along with opening-game day winners F2 Logistics and defending champion Petron at the upper half of the standings (1-0).
Lourdes Clemente finished with 10 points for Amy’s, which has a 0-1 record tied with Standard Insurance Navy, Cignal and Foton.
