IMUS CITY — PLDT Home Fibr recovered from a two-set deficit to beat Sta. Lucia, 22-25, 20-25, 25-16, 25-20, 15-8, on Saturday for its first win in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference at the Imus Sports Center.

Grethcel Soltones had 19 points off 16 spikes, two aces and a block and made 19 digs and 18 excellent receptions.

Jorelle Singh was fielded in the third set and helped spark the comeback. She finished with 16 points.

PLDT head coach Roger Gorayeb was glad to get a boost from Singh, with Jerrili Malabanan struggling due to a bum stomach and Aiko Urdas failing to find her rhythm.

“Naghahanap ako ng tamang kombinasyon andami ko nang shinuffle e. Ang kagandahan si Jorelle, gumana,” said Gorayeb. “Buti nakaadjust at nagtuloy tuloy na. Yung libero gumana, yung setter gumana, yung mga middle gumana.”

Joyce Sta. Rita and Shola Alvarez had eight points each, Jasmine Nabor made 25 excellent sets and three points, while libero Alyssa Eroa had 28 digs as PLDT improved bounced back from a loss in their opening match against F2 Logistics.

Sta. Lucia committed six of their 38 errors in the fifth set, where PLDT took control with an 11-4 start, finishing the match in two hours and 14 minutes.
