CES Molina and Jovelyn Gonzaga combined for 30 points to lead the Philippine women's volleyball team as they turned back Team Sparkle, 25-12, 25-18, 25-18, in the Philippine Super Liga Super Cup on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V San Juan Arena.
With Kalei Mau skipping the game due to a strained neck muscle, Molina doubled the effort and fired 17 points from 12 attacks, while Gonzaga and Eya Laure added 13 and 12 markers, reapectively.
Head coach Shaq delos Santos commended the team effort as they managed to adjust by themselves in the second frame after a slow start, controlling their pace to put the game at 13-all.
"Normal lang naman na instructions. Alam naman namin na nandun pa rin sa process ng pagbuo ng team so good thing lang nakakapag-deliver kami nang maayos. Maganda din na nagamit namin yung rotation talaga sa game na to," he said.
Meanwhile, Carmina Aganon made seven spikes for Team Sparkle while Alohi Robins-Hardy, Grethcel Soltones, Elaine Kasilag, and Jerrili Malabanan added three each.
Team captain Aby Maraño also shared that she is proud of her team for trying their best to harmonize with each other in the middle of the match.
"Yun din yung target, whether lamang yung kalaban ang importante kung paano mo sya hahabulin and at the same time maging consistent na may endgame ka na maayos," she said.
Delos Santos also mentioned that PH team will train early Friday morning to prepare for the University of Tsukuba Japanese team.
