PHILIPPINE Superliga will adjust its calendar in 2019 as the country sees action in international volleyball tournaments including the 30th Southeast Asian Games to be held in the country.
The PSL will hold the traditional fans’ day and out-of-town exhibition matches and clinics from January 19 to 30 before the import-flavored Grand Prix fires off on February 9.
The country participates in the Asian Women’s Club Championship in China from April 20 to 28 and PSL will hold the Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup 2019 from May 23 to 26.
“This calendar of events reflects our commitment of coming up with high-level women’s volleyball action,” PSL chairman Philip Ella Juico said.
The PSL All-Filipino Conference, originally scheduled as season-ending tournament, will be moved as midseason conference from June 15 to August 24.
The 3rd Asian Women’s U23 Volleyball Championship in Vietnam is set July 13 to 21, while the 20th Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship will be held Aug. 31 to Sept. 8 in South Korea.
The PSL holds its Invitational Conference from Oct. 5 to Nov. 16 featuring at least eight teams including regional, collegiate teams and clubs.
The Philippines will host the 30th Southeast Asian Games from Nov. 30 to Dec. 10.
The PSL ends its 2019 season with another beach volleyball event in December.
“I believe our 2019 season will be as action-packed and as intense as the previous years,” Juico said. “We’re looking forward to another successful season with the help of the players, clubs, sponsors, our broadcast partner, the national federation and, of course, the fans.”
