MANE 'N TAIL evened its record and gained a share of third spot with a 27-25, 25-21, 25-21 victory over Cignal on Sunday in the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Former Cignal players Honey Tubino and Danika Gendrauli scored 11 each, while rookie Samantha Dawson added 10 and Mane N Tail improved to 1-1 to join Foton in third behind Petron and Shopinas.com (2-0).
Abigail Praca, also a former HD Spiker, added seven markers as Mane ‘N Tail get back on track after dropping a four-set match to Shopinas.com last week.
Although Mane ‘N Tail completed the match in just an hour and 18 minutes, Mane ‘N Tail coach Rosemarie Prochina was not too satisfied.
"Hindi pa nagjejell masyado 'yung team," admitted Prochina. "Five days lang kasi kami nagtraining before the tournament and kulang pa kami sa communication inside the court."
"At least naranasan na nila manalo gugustuhin na nila manalo," she added.
From a 10-11 deficit in the third, Mane N Tail rallied with six unanswered points to make it 16-11, and never looked back.
Mane ’N Tail plays consecutive days as it battles sister team Philips Gold (0-2) on Monday.
Lady Slammers coach Francis Vicente earlier declared the match against their sister team a must win, but Prochina says they will go all out for the win no matter which team they face.
"Lalaban kami," she said. "Hindi naman pwedeng magbibigay na lang kami."
Jeanette Panaga scored 21 points for Cignal, winless in two matches.
Foton faces undefeated Shopinas.com on Monday at 4:15.
