MALOLOS, Bulacan — Petron advanced to the to the championship round of the Philippine Superliga Invitational Conference with a 25-17, 25-14, 25-16 victory over Foton in the knockout semifinals on Tuesday at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center.
The Blaze Spikers, runners-up to F2 Logistics in the Invitational Conference last season, look to make it to the top this time.
Petron has won nine titles since the inaugurals in 2013, but never in the short Invitationals.
The Blaze Spikers take on either F2 or Cignal in the one-match final on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Sisi Rondina had 17 points and 13 digs, while Ces Molina scored 12 and Chloe Cortez had 10 points as the Blaze Spikers remained unbeaten in seven matches.
“Sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam kasi siyempre namiss namin ito kasi siyempre hindi naman ganun kadali para pumasok sa Finals,” said Petron head coach Shaq Delos Santos. “Gagrab namin to and kailangan magprepare kami kasi one day lang yung pagitan.”
Petron nailed 42 kills against Foton’s 24 attacks, 14 coming from Eya Laure and Shaya Adorador.
