MUNTINLUPA City — Petron stunned erstwhile undefeated F2 Logistics, 25-16, 21-25, 25-20, 26-24, to secure an outright semis berth in the Philippine Super Liga Invitational Conference on Saturday at Muntinlupa Sports Center here.
Bernadeth Pons had a game-high 16 points, while Mika Reyes added 13, Sisi Rondina chipped in 11 and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas scored 10 markers for the Blaze Spikers, who claimed the No. 1 spot in Pool A.
Although Petron and F2 Logistics hold an identical 3-1 win-loss record, the Blaze Spikers’ quotient is higher than of the Cargo Movers.
“Sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam, thank you kay Lord kasi grabe ginuide niya kami, start until the end and alam ko nandyan pa rin siya para sa amin. Hopefully mas maganda pa ang susunod naming games,” said Petron coach Shaq delos Santos.
It was a hard-earned win for the Blaze Spikers, who were pushed to the limit before winning the match.
Tied at 24-all, Mich Morente’s attack went out before Sisi Rondina put on the exclamation point and sealed the win.
“Puso na lang eh, eagerness na manalo (ang key sa panalo), kasi skills wise lagi kong sinasabi ‘yan, pag dating sa ganyan parehas meron ‘yan eh so ‘yung panghawakan lang kung gaano katibay ang puso ng bawat isa,” said delos Santos.
Ara Galang and Mich Morente combined for 22 points for F2 Logistics, which will face Sta. Lucia in the knockout cross over quarterfinals on Tuesday.
