DEFENDING champion Petron handed RC Cola Army its fourth straight loss, 25-19, 25-22, 25-16, at the end of the second round of the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Sunday.
The Tri-Activ Spikers, who snapped a two-game losing skid in the second round, improved to 1-2 (win-loss) and set up a showdown with F2 Logistics in the knockout semifinals on Saturday.
Four-time champions Lady Troopers remained winless in the second round and will square off with Foton on Thursday in the Final Four at Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Malolos, Bulacan.
Skipper Aiza Maizo-Pontillas finished with 11 points while Far Eastern U top hitter Bernadeth Pons added 10 for the Tri-Activ Spikers,who snapped a two-game losing skid.
"Nobody’s game naman 'tong round na ito kasi ang importante 'yung crossover semis, 'yun ang talagang pinaghahandaan ng lahat," said Petron coach George Pascua.
"Gusto ko 'yung match-up namin sa F2 Logistics para makabawi naman kami. Actually kahit sino naman sa kanila kasi sa crossover ibang usapan na 'yun, kasi lahat back to zero na naman, depende na lang siguro kung ano mangyayari pagdating ng game day."
Petron has lost twice to F2 in the tournament.
"Basta dapat 'yung game plan namin ma-execute namin kasi twice na naming nakalaban 'yung F2 Logistics so 'yung adjustment kaunti na lang kumpara noong mga nakaraan," added the veteran mentor.
Coming off a straight-set loss to Foton on Saturday, Petron attacked from all angles to outscore RC Cola Army (41-19).
Team captain Jovelyn Gonzaga and Honey Royse Tubino each had eight points for RC Cola Army, which played without injured outside hitter Rachel Anne Daquis.
