PETRON routed new team Smart, 25-12, 25-14, 25-17, to remain unbeaten in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.
American imports Hillary Hurley and Lindsay Stalzer had 15 and 14 points, respectively, as the Blaze Spikers took the solo lead at 3-0.
“Magandang morale booster ito and isa na rin sa magiging key namin this coming Saturday,” said Petron coach Shaq delos Santos, already bracing for the battle with defending champion F2 Logistics.
The veteran mentor was pleased that his wards were able to execute what they did in practice as all scoring players fielded delivered at least a point in the one hour and 14-minute match.
“Hopefully ma-maintain and for sure ile-level up pa namin ang laro namin syempre defending champion ang kalaban namin,” he said.
Gyselle dela Caridad Silva had 23 points, six digs and 11 excellent receptions for Smart, winless in two outings.
The Cuban national team member scored 22 of the team’s 30 attacks.
