PETRON booked its fifth straight finals appearance as the Blaze Spikers beat the Smart-Army Giga Hitters, 25-12, 25-15, 25-17, on Saturday in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) Invitational Conference at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.
The Blaze Spikers stopped the Giga Hitters in just 70 minutes, making their fifth finals in a row since the 2016 PSL Grand Prix.
Petron will face the winner of the match between F2 Logistics and Cignal in a best-of-three championship series starting on Thursday in San Juan City.
Nobody scored in double figures for Petron, with Sisi Rondina and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas delivering nine points apiece.
National team members Ces Molina and Mika Reyes added eight and seven hits, respectively.
“Parang unpredictable din 'yung pwedeng mangyari so parang sa amin mas nagfocus muna kami sa team namin kung ano 'yung strengths na dapat mailabas ng team," Petron coach Shaq Delos Santos said.
"Doon kami nagfocus and good thing na-execute namin ng maayos."
Petron will face the winner of other semifinal between F2 Logistics and Cignal in a best-of-three championship series starting on Thursday in San Juan City.
“Definitely puso na lang paguusapan sa Finals kasi pagdating diyan kahit sino makalaban namin," said Delos Santos.
Petron is eyeing its their second straight title of the season.
"Skills wise lahat meron na 'yan pero may kanya kanyang diskarte 'yung mga coaches at depende kung gaano katibay 'yung puso ng players. Magiging maganda itong laban na to," added De los Santos.
Dimdim Pacres scored seven points for Smart-Army.
