LEADER meets tailender as Petron goes for a first round sweep when it faces winless Foton on Sunday in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the Cuneta Astrodome.
The Blaze Spikers sit firmly on top but Petron coach George Pascua has warned his players against complacency especially since they are facing a Foton side aching to score a win after four defeats.
"Lagi kong sinasabi sa kanila na i-trato ang bawat laro na parang championship," said Pascua.
"Nothing to lose sila kaya lalaban pa rin kami,” he added.
Petron survived a slow start to turn back RC Cola-Air Force, 28-30, 25-23, 25-16, 25-19, with the twin towers of 6-foot-3 Alaina Bergsma and 6-foot-2 Dindin Santiago leading the way with 26 and17 markers, respectively.
Cignal is in second spot with a 3-1 win-loss card, while RC Cola-Air Force is running third at 3-2.
The Tornadoes are coming off a 25-27, 14-25, 21-25 loss to Cignal after Russian import Irina Tarasova made an early exit due to stiff neck.
The Blaze Spikers meet the winless Tornadoes at 6 p.m. after the match between Mane 'N Tail and Generika at 4 p.m.
The 6-foot-3 Kristy Jaeckel has scored the most points at 146 and is again expected to lead the way for Mane ‘N Tail against Generika, bannered by former La Salle standouts Aby Maraño, Paneng Mercado and Cha Cruz.
In men's play, Cignal face newcomer Cavite at 8 p.m.
The HD Spikers are unbeaten in two games, while the Patriots Fourbees are in third spot with a 1-1 card.
