PETRON strengthened its bid for back-to-back titles, disposing of Philips Gold, 25-14, 25-23, 25-18, on Monday to reach the finals of the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Blaze Spikers, winners of last year’s PSL Grand Prix, stayed unbeaten in 11 matches, with new acquisition Aby Marano leading the way this time with 13 points.
Rachel Anne Daquis, also a new addition to the squad before the conference, came up with 12 points, while new skipper Maica Morada chipped in with 11 for Petron, which was never threatened in the knockout match that lasted an hour and 27 minutes.
“Sabi ko sa mga players, forget about the 10-0 ibang story ito, ibang scenario, one miss you die,” said Blaze Spikers coach George Pascua. “Kung matalo ka rito tapos ang 10-0 mo.”
Petron faces the winner of the other semifinal between Shopinas.com and Foton.
Myla Pablo scored 10 points for Philips Gold, which edged Cignal in five sets in the knockout quarterfinals in Lucena City on Saturday.
