VENUS Bernal is back in a familiar territory but struggling with unfamiliar feelings as she suited up with Cignal in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix.

The first MVP when the league started in 2013 after steering the HD Spikers to a runner-up finish to Philippine Army, Bernal was given a rude awakening in her return as Cignal bowed to F2 Logistics, 25-21, 11-25, 26-24, 18-25, 11-15, on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.

Still struggling to regain her old fighting form, the 30-year old admitted she was anxious and nervous upon her return after getting a lot of messages from fans who were excited over her comeback.

‘Yun talaga ang nakaka-excite sa paglalaro eh, ‘yung makita ka ng maraming tao,” said Bernal, who sat out five league conferences to focus on her day job at Maynilad.

Although Bernal is overwhelmed with the well wishes, she isn't making any promises.

“Alam kong nakakatuwa kasi atleast nag-eexpect sila at the same time nakakahiya kasi syempre hindi pa ako makapag-ano eh, hindi ko pa maibigay ang talagang kailangan,” she said.

The former University of Santo Tomas is determined to prove herself all over again, saying she doesn't to ride or her past glory.

“Kalimutan na natin ‘yun, kasi three years ago na ‘yun,” she said, covering her face.
