Maika Ortiz leads way as RC Cola Air Force downs Mane 'N Tail to secure spot in Super Liga semifinals

RC COLA Air Force recovered from a set down to turn back mane N' Tail, 19-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-19, on Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome to gain a share of the second spot and secure a place in the semifinals of the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix.

Maika Ortiz scored 16 points, while Emily Brown and Iari Yongco each had 12 markers as RC Cola Air Force improved its win-loss record to 5-3 and join the Generika Life Savers in second behind league-leading Petron (6-1). Judy Ann caballejo and Bonita Wise chipped in with 11 apiece for the Raiders.

"Siguro nagje-jell na ang team sa akin at ako sa kanila," said RC Cola Air Force coach Rhovyl Verayo, who took over three weeks before the start of the tournament.

“After sa straight sets na talo namin noong opening neg-jell na ang team, nagco-contribute na ang locals,” he added.

Kristy Jaeckel came up with 29 points, while American setter Kaylee Manns added 11 and Rossan Fajardo chipped in 10 for Mane N Tail, which dropped to fifth spot with a 3-6 card.
