CIGNAL made short work of Maybank, 25-15, 25-21, 25-12, on Wednesday to claim the solo lead in the men's division in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Former San Beda standouts Lorenzo Capate and Gilbert Ablan scored 16 and 13 points, respectively, as Cignal scored its second win in as many games.

Cignal needed only 71 minutes to finish the match and move ahead of two-time champion PLDT Air Force (1-0).

“Itong game namin preparation namin para sa PLDT,” said Cignal coach Macky Carino. “Nagawa naman nila ngayon ang prinactice namin kagabi so satisfied ako.”

The HD Spikers, who have a 0-2 record against PLDT, will face Cavite on Sunday before facing the Power Spikers on November 14.

Jasper Adorador scored seven points for Maybank, while Van Bacolod and Jack Locquiao added five markers apiece.
