Cavite spikers beat Maybank to earn podium finish in Super Liga debut

CAVITE beat Maybank, 25-14, 26-24, 25-22, in the knockout match to finish in third place in the men's division of the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix at the Alonte Sports Arena in Binan, Laguna on Wednesday.

Joven Camaganakan and Adam Aidam came up with 11 points apiece for the expansion team Cavite.

"Gusto kasi namin mapasama sa awarding," said Cavite coach Jason Sapin. "Doon kami na-inspire na unang sali namin, third place kami."

Cavite had a 2-2 card in the elimination round before winning the one game battle for third.

"Isa pa kaya namin pinilit na mag-third din para sa magi-sponsor sa amin next year. Sa ngayon kasi 'yung mga players walang allowance ang pangako namin sa players exposure lang," said Sapin.

Jack Locquiao finished with 12 points, while Joshua Alcarde had 10 for Maybank, which closed its comeback campaign on a disappointing note after missing the All Filipino Conference.
