COACH Shaq de los Santos hopes to spread the offense in the coming matches after Petron Blaze rode their imports’ huge performances in the opening win against Generika in the Super Liga Grand Prix.

The offense was focused on Lindsay Stalzer, who scored all of her 14 points from attacks, while Hillary Hurley got 15 of her 18 points on spikes.

De los Santos was pleased with the straight-sets win, but said they are working on getting the locals more involved.

“Ang role ng locals namin sobrang importante, kailangan mag-jell pa, maging solid pa ang team namin,” said De los Santos.

With the foreign reinforcements getting most of the scoring chances, the usually explosive Filipina spikers did not get a lot of good looks at the top of the net, with Aiza Maizo scoring only two, Cherry Rondina delivering one point and Bernadeth Pons going scoreless.

The middle blockers that wound up as top scoring locals, with Mika Reyes registering six points and Ria Meneses five points.

Still, De los Santos is pleased to get a big boost from the imports as they try to work on team chemistry.

“Si Lindsay simple lang pero alam mong effective, si Hillary naman talagang vocal tapos all out, si Yuri (Fukuda, libero) naman comedienne. Happy kami kasi ok ang nakuha naming import ngayon,” he added.

“Pero sabi nga namin, ‘yung local namin magtatrabaho pa rin, hindi pwedeng import lang, kailangan mag sabay,” he said.

Petron faces Sta. Lucia on Thursday.
