SYSTEMA team manager Sammy Gaddi expressed disappointment as the team was left with no choice but to play its Shakey’s V-League title match against Instituto Estetico Manila, in the process automatically forfeiting its elimination round game against Maybank in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix which both fell on a Sunday.

The Active Smashers lost Game Three of the title series against the Phoenix Volley Masters, 21-25, 26-24, 22-25, 25-14, 12-15, which went way behind the scheduled 2:45 p.m. match as the first game between Far Eastern University and Rizal Technological University in the battle for third place went to five sets.

The V-League title game was held at The Arena in San Juan and had long been set since October 30.

Unfortunately, its schedule run smack with its game against Maybank in the PSL, which is being played at the Astrodome.

The PSL changed its schedule last November 9 to fit to its calendar that ends on Nov. 30 when the championship game is played.

Instead of Systema, PLDT was originally set to meet Maybank in Sunday’s scheduled men’s game.

“We are very sad that the schedule on the other side (league) was changed all of a sudden,” Gaddi told

“It was changed. It was not the original schedule and we are saddened about it. We have no choice. This is our game, this is our championship, and we are playing our championship match," he added.

Gaddi said the team tried to appeal the changed schedule but to no avail.

“Ginawa namin ang lahat ng magagawa namin para i-request (na mapalitan ang schedule) and we were denied for whatever reason I do not know,” he said.

Not only did Systema bowed to Instituto Estetico Manila for the title, but likewise absorbed its third consecutive loss in the PSL after forfeiting its match against Maybank.

As a result, Systema bowed out of semifinals contention while handing Maybank its first win in four outings.

“It's just sad to know that they (PSL) changed the schedule only recently," he said.
