SHOPINAS.COM coach Ramil de Jesus is one proud mentor after seeing his former players find success suiting up for other teams in the ongoing Philippine Super Liga All-Filipino Conference.

De Jesus could only flashed a huge smile on his face when asked about Aby Marano, Michelle Gumabao, and Melissa Gohing, all of whom played under him with the La Salle Lady Spikers in the UAAP.

Although all three also saw action with him at Generika, Marano and Co. decided to branch out to other teams the moment took over the Generika franchise,

Maraño is now with Petron, while Gumabao and Gohing moved over to Philips Gold.

And though no longer playing for him, De Jesus said he’s more than happy to see three of his former players doing good in their respective careers.

“Maganda ang laro nila. Nakikita ko na gusto nilang patunayan na malaki ang natutunan nila sa akin,” said de Jesus, owner of eight UAAP women’s volleyball championships while calling the shots for the Lady Spikers.

De Jesus however, had the last laugh over his former players when faced Philips Gold for the first time this season as the Lady Clickers swept the Lady Slammers in straight sets, 25-18, 26-24, 29-27

Gumabao scored 13 points, to go with six digs and 11 excellent receptions, while Gohing, a libero, had 21 digs and 11 excellent receptions.

“Maganda ang laro ni Gumabao,” said de Jesus. “Leader siya noong college maganda na nag step up siya ngayon.”

Despite doing good against their former coach, de Jesus still knows what his players’ weaknesses are.

“Ikaw ang gumawa sa mga bata kaya alam mo ang weakness nila,” he said.
